ABUNDANT SPECIES ACT CAMPAIGN FOR CHANGE 2002

Alliance for America Kicks Off Its Exciting "Abundant Species Act Campaign for Change 2002"

Building the NoahÕs Ark of the 21st Century with an Overhaul of the Endangered Species Act and Marine Mammal Protection Act

The Alliance for America, a national umbrella organization for grassroots groups, announces the kick off of its exciting "Abundant Species Act Campaign for Change 2002".

"For nearly 30 years the ESA and MMPA have failed to accomplish the stated goals, Ōto recover endangered speciesÕ. For nearly 30 years AmericanÕs have been placed dead last in this environmental equation. ItÕs time to join together and build a NoahÕs Ark for the 21st Century and develop a national strategy to protect AmericaÕs environment, our lands and our future from a continuous flood of red tape, conflicting and costly regulations and politicized science. ItÕs time for a change," stated Campaign Committee Chairman Rose Correira.

Americans are sick and tired of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) shutting down businesses, locking up AmericaÕs resources, ruining family farms, and costing millions of taxpayer dollars with minimal or no conservation benefit. Americans are sick and tired of the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) giving "rights" to abundant animals at the expense of human rights.

The Abundant Species Act Campaign for Change 2002 will change all that!

The immediate objective of the Abundant Species Act Campaign for Change 2002 is to build a new NoahÕs Ark for the 21st Century, which will entail legislative initiatives to revise or replace the ESA and MMPA. The mid- and long-term objectives of the Abundant Species Act Campaign are: to develop legal approaches that put a stop to "animals vs. people" litigation; and to implement policies that ensure that sound PEER REVIEWED science is the preeminent consideration in the management of our natural resources.

America Needs You!

And we have a lot to do! Building a new NoahÕs Ark will require carpenters who reflect the many faces of rural and urban America to participate in the Abundant Species Act Campaign for Change 2002. If you are a natural resource provider or user, a private property owner, an educator, a business owner, a conservationist or recreational user of our natural resources, a trade association, or an elected official, we need you!
