Kopenhagen Fur continues to expand operations

THE BIG DANISH AUCTION HOUSE KOPENHAGEN FUR CONTINUES TO EXPAND ITS OPERATIONS in terms of both size and scope. As previously reported, it has added North American mink to its sales portfolio. It handled about 100,000 Canadian pelts last season and expects to have at least 150,000 in the coming season, including U.S. goods. In addition, it is moving into North American wild furs and plans to offer some 35,000 raccoons in its opening sale in December. In the year ahead, the company expects to increase the total number of mink skins it handles to 21 million, compared with 19.7 million in the past year.

Furthermore, Kopenhagen has partnered with two non-fur organizations to create an innovation center in Copenhagen. The others are Dansk Fashion & Textile and the Danish Jewelers Association. The three are hoping the synergy among them will develop into a kind of Silicon Valley for fashion, developing ideas and techniques that may also attract foreign companies.
